Whereas the wasteful Long-Gun Registry has cost Canadian taxpayers over $2 billion to create, and over $100 million annually to maintain;

Whereas numerous police and government officials have stated that they do not find the Long-Gun Registry to be useful or effective in preventing gun crime;

Whereas funding is desperately needed for front-line police officers to crack down on violent crime, gangs, and new kinds of criminal activities such as internet fraud;

Whereas the Long-Gun Registry unfairly treats innocent Canadian farmers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts as guilty criminals;

We, the undersigned, support the efforts by Stephen Harper’s Conservative government to scrap the wasteful and ineffective Long-Gun Registry, and we call on the opposition parties in Parliament to support this legislation.
